What Does this MRI Result Mean?

I have had an MRI done that reads "impressing L4 exiting nerve root" I have never heard of 'impressing'. I know abutment, radiculopathy, compression, and other similar words (I am a medical transcriptionist). Would 'impressing' be equivalent to any of these other terms or is it a typo? (My pain is left leg, atypical, as not the usual down the back of the leg, only on the outside of the leg).

Welcome to health care magic.

1.I think is typing error where the report was typed - it nerve compression, also called as indentation.
2.When there is a disc pathology with loss of hydration the disc gets herniated most commonly posteriorly and causes pressure effect on the exiting nerve root.
3.This compression can cause the pain on the same side and radiates throughout the leg, numbness, tingling sensation.
4.In this case the treatment includes - back exercises - if not responsive physiotherapy.
5.Only in worst cases one will plan for interventional / operative if symptoms does not respond to exercises ( though it works I'm most number of patients).
